Car hits building near Gaston after fleeing deputies

October 10, 2019

Gaston, SC (Paul Kirby) – A car that was being pursued by Lexington County Deputies left the road, ran through a portion of a yard, and struck the front of a metal building off Glenn Road Wednesday. According to onlookers, both the car and the building were damaged. The same witness to the collision said It didn’t appear as if anyone was seriously injured.

According to our sources, deputies tried to stop this car in the South Region of the county. When they activated their warning devices, the driver refused to stop initiating the short chase. The deputy discontinued the pursuit at some point but continued driving in the direction the car was last seen. At Glenn Road and Bachman, the deputy came upon the car they had been chasing crashed into the building. A perimeter was set around the scene for a time while law enforcement officers cleared the area. Officers from the Gaston Police Department assisted with that. Eventually they detained a female. She was eventually place under arrest for failure to stop for blue lights and reckless driving. No other individuals were arrested in this case.

A spokesperson for the sheriff's department said that the driver didn't use a turn signal and that's

what originally caught the deputy’s eye. Officers believe that this may be the same car that fled from a Gaston officer recently. That officer discontinued the pursuit after a short period.
