November 29, 2019

West Columbia, SC (Paul Kirby) - A Thanksgiving Day argument between a father and son resulted in the father being transported to a local trauma center with gunshot wounds and the son under arrest. According to Assistant Chief Scott Morrison of the West Columbia Police Department, the argument between family members escalated to the point that shots rang out. The father was hit by the shots fired by his son.

Police were on scene in moments and began securing the area. Lexington County EMS treated the injured man on scene with the assistance of West Columbia firefighters before transporting him to a local trauma center.  The father was shot three times but is expected to recover. The son has been apprehended and is in custody according to Chief Morrison.
