Swansea, SC (Paul Kirby) – Sgt. Stone of the Swansea Police Department said recently the department had removed guns, a large quantity of Methamphetamines, marijuana, and a small quantity of heroin from the town’s streets after pulling over a vehicle. They also confiscated a fully functioning AK-47 cheap, but deadly knockoff, a handgun, an illegally modified shotgun, and extra magazines and ammo. The man also was in possession of digital scales that are used to weigh drugs for distribution.
According to the sergeant, once the vehicle was stopped, there was obvious probable cause to search it along with the driver. There were partially smoked blunts in the car that were giving off an odor among other things. Once the driver was detained, the search revealed all the contraband items.
Sgt. Stone said that the occupant of the car was arrested and booked into the Lexington County Detention Center. The vehicle was impounded and the man has been served with warrants on multiple counts pertaining to the items.
Stone made it clear that Police Chief Cliff Hayes has given the officers with the department clear instructions to tackle the drugs and crime in Swansea by aggressive enforcement of the law. He also said as with every suspect, this man is considered innocent until proven guilty.
