South Congaree, SC (Paul Kirby) – Leaders of the South Congaree Business Association recently presented a check to the Town of South Congaree for money they raised during a Thanksgiving fundraiser. The money will be earmarked for the Special Events Committee projects. In total, the amount raised was $2,463.45.
Business Association board of trustees members presenting the check included Bobby Jeffcoat of Jeffcoat’s Garage, Teddy Huff of Ted’s Auto Detailing, and Diana Nation who represented Paul Kirby of The Lexington Ledger. Jim Drennan was there representing the town’s Special Events Committee.
At Thanksgiving, the members of the Association sold, cooked, and delivered 90 smoked or fried turkeys. Most were donated by elected officials to public servants across Lexington County. In total, every fire station in the entire county as well as every Police Department received at least one of the delicious birds. The larger stations with bigger crews received two.
The check was accepted by South Congaree Mayor Danny Jones and the entire council. Mayor Jones said after the presentation, “What these business owners have done in such a short time is amazing. The amount of work that they each put in shows how much they love their community and are willing to prove it by doing this amount of work in a very short time.”
