Chapin Police Department arrest man wanted for trying to steal trailer from church’s thrift store

January 16, 2020

Chapin, SC (Paul Kirby) – After releasing the photograph of man who was suspected of attempting to steal a trailer in Chapin, the police have made an arrest in that case. The suspect was booked into the Lexington County detention Center where on January 15th, 2020 he was awaiting a bond hearing.

According to the department, on November 1st, 2019, they posted the photos of a vehicle and the suspect in the attempted trailer theft case on their social media pages. It was picked up by local media sources and all their followers shared the pictures to thousands. The public really does make a difference when they partner with law enforcement in this way.

The trailer was parked at the St. Francis Thrift Store on Courtland Road. The fact that the trailer was at a church’s store made people especially angry. The public seemed believe that this was a particularly heinous act. Based on their investigative work, a suspect was identified and warrants were obtained.

On January 14th, 2020, Patrick Donald Bouknight was arrested on the Chapin Police Department’s warrants. He has been charged with Grand Larceny and Criminal Conspiracy.
