Lexington Medical Center Saluda Pointe opens its doors Wednesday

West Columbia, S.C. – Lexington Medical Center is opening a new urgent care and imaging center near the intersection of Sunset Boulevard (Hwy 378) and I-20 in Lexington. In consideration of the area and the existing businesses around it, it will be called Lexington Medical Center Saluda Pointe. The facility opens at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 22, 2020. It’s just behind the Chick-fil-A restaurant.

“Lexington Medical Center Saluda Pointe brings an additional urgent care and imaging center to the town of Lexington that’s closer to the hospital and convenient to the interstate and neighboring communities,” said Tod Augsburger, president and CEO of Lexington Medical Center. This area is growing at a rapid pace because of the quality of life around it.

The physicians at Lexington Medical Center Saluda Pointe’s urgent care address issues typically handled by a primary care physician such as coughs, sore throats, earaches, fevers, strains and sprains, sinus infections, simple cuts and wounds and stomach pain. Urgent care is for times that patients cannot get in to see their doctor or when they need medical care after hours.

Although the existing Lexington Medical Center urgent care facility on West Main Street in Lexington will remain open and still provide the same great services, because of the growth of the town, it can seem miles away from the Saluda Pointe side of town. This newest facility will offer the same great service as the existing urgent care, plus the new technology that will benefit not only patients on the east side of Lexington, but also patients that may find it more convenient to use I-20 as an access route.

Urgent cares offer services for conditions and complaints that may not need the level of services that the Emergency Department on the main campus offers. This new facility could cut wait times at the existing ED on the main campus for patients that do need an extra level of treatment and care. Lexington Medical Center’s full-service Emergency Department on the main campus provides exceptional care for patients suffering cardiac events, strokes and other brain related injuries, and much more.

Lexington Medical Center Saluda Pointe features some of the latest technology in the hospital’s network of care. It’s the first facility to offer 3T MRI. This takes a more detailed image of the brain, spine, soft tissue of joints, and the inside of bones and blood vessels than other types of MRI. The urgent care center also offers CT scans, X-rays and ultrasounds.

While appointments are not required, patients can reserve an appointment time by using On My Way within LMC My Chart to reduce lobby wait times. When you’re not feeling well, this reduced wait improves a patient’s experience.

Lexington Medical Center Saluda Pointe will be open seven days a week from 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. Hours for the imaging center vary, but there are extended hours available, including evenings and weekends.
