Businessman Bill Danielson files to run for Irmo town council

February 11, 2020

Irmo, SC (Paul Kirby) – Irmo businessman Bill Danielson has filed to run for the open seat on Irmo’s town council. The seat was vacated when Councilmember Barry Walker beat longtime Irmo Mayor Hardy King in the November election. That left Walker’s seat open.

Danielson has been a resident of the town of Irmo for over 30 years. He is married to Peggy and has been for 35 years. The couple raised two children in the area, Reid and Kristen, who are both now grown and successful. Danielson and his wife have one grandchild.

Although Danielson has never been elected to office, he has held numerous leadership positions. He served on the board of directors and was the treasurer of the Babcock Center when it went through its reorganization. He also was on the board of Glenforest School when its campus was moved and their new gymnasium was constructed. Governor Niki Haley appointed him to the commission that leads the South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs where he served for many years. He’s also been active and held leadership positions with the Irmo Chamber of Commerce. Although he says he doesn’t have a musical bone in his body, he has served on the board of directors of the SC Philharmonic for 12 years. As you can see, he has a heart for helping others and has done so for more than 30 years.

Danielson is an independent businessman that owns his own payroll company. He’s also develops real estate. He says that his experience in business dealing with processes like permitting and planning make him uniquely qualified to be on the council. “I’m a straightforward no nonsense conservative,” Danielson said during a recent interview. “Although I’ve considered running for office before, I think the time is right for me to serve in this capacity now.”

Danielson has set up a Facebook page that has a great deal more information regarding his candidacy. You can find that at Bill Danielson - Candidate for Irmo Town Council 2020 or by clicking this LINK.
