Another person dead on Lexington County roads after collision Sunday morning

West Columbia, SC (Paul Kirby) - One person has died following a collision on I-26 near the Airport exit. This is near the 113-mile marker where West Columbia, Cayce, and Springdale are all near one another. According to troopers with the SCHP, this happened Sunday morning shortly after 2:00 a.m.

Troopers investigating the collision say there were actually three vehicles involved. They had two separate collisions that left two large trucks damaged and a car mangled.

The first collision involved a tractor trailer and a car that were both heading east toward Charleston. For some unknown reason, the driver of the car ran into the back of the tractor trailer, lost control, spun across the road, and overturned several times. The car stopped in the roadway. Another tractor trailer that was traveling east hit the car still sitting there. This is when the driver of the car was killed.

Troopers with the SCHP Multi-disciplinary Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) were back on the scene Sunday morning investigating this incident. Coroner Fisher will only release the name of the deceased after she has notified that victim's family.
