Batesburg-Leesville, SC - Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the individual who was killed as a result of a motorcycle accident that occurred in the 600 block of Old Lexington Road in Leesville, at approximately 9:25 p.m. on March 11, 2020.
According to Coroner Fisher, Peter W. Chavis, 45, of Batesburg was pronounced dead at the scene due to his injuries. Mr. Chavis was traveling southbound when he left the right side of the roadway, lost control of his motorcycle, and struck a tree. He was not wearing a helmet.
The incident remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
