Mobile home near Gilbert destroyed by fire Friday afternoon

Gilbert, SC (Paul Kirby) – A single-wide mobile home was destroyed by fire just after 1:00 p.m. Friday afternoon. It was in the 100 block of Taylor Street near Gilbert.

911 communicators received a call from the public before the first fire apparatus arrived on scene telling them that the home was fully involved. The first truck and manpower out of Lexington County’s Gilbert station arrived and its officer confirmed what they had been told. There was a single-wide mobile home there burning from one end to another.

Firefighters pulled several attack lines from their truck and as more manpower was arriving from various other stations, they put those into play. They established a water supply, attacked the fire from the outside, and were able to apply enough water to eventually extinguish it.

Firefighters as always were assisted by a crew from Lexington County EMS who was there for the safety of everyone on scene. The county has not reported any injuries via their normal means of communicating with the public. The home was a total loss.
