Find Your Place at the Library — National Library Week

April 19, 2020

Lexington, South Carolina — This week, April 19–25, the Lexington County Public Libraries invites all members of the community to find your place at the library. Typically, they celebrate this time by opening their doors to patrons and extend outreach services for groups of all ages. While their doors may temporarily be closed due to COVID-19, the staff of the Lexington County libraries are continuing to work hard — continuing to serve you during these changing times. They are doing this by providing electronic resources, digital content, virtual services and more.

This National Library Week, find your place at the library by visiting www.lexcolibrary.com. You can access audiobooks, movies, online storytimes, virtual book clubs and information about keeping your family safe — all from the safety of your home.

In times of crisis, libraries respond to their community’s needs in innovative and inspiring ways. Throughout the coronavirus pandemic, libraries of all types are continuing to make a difference in people’s lives by providing electronic learning resources, including virtual homework help, online crafting and DIY workshops, as well as, information about keeping your family's healthy and safe.

At Lexington County Public Library, there are a wide array of virtual services such as Ancestry, Tutor.com, Auto Repair Source and Tumblebooks. National Library Week is a time to highlight the valuable role libraries, librarians and library staff play in transforming lives and strengthening communities. This National Library Week, the public can show their appreciation and support for libraries by visiting the Lexington County Public Library's website at www.lexcolibrary.com, following them on social media at LexCoLibrary and using the hashtag #NationalLibraryWeek.

The theme for National Library Week, “Find Your Place at the Library,” was chosen some time ago, before any of the library's staff could imagine the emergence of a global pandemic that would force most libraries to temporarily close their physical spaces. But, you can still find your place at the library because libraries are open for business online. They are providing the virtual services and digital content their communities need more than ever. You can access ebooks, movies, music, video games, online storytimes and so much more — all from the the comfort of your home.

For more information about National Library Week or any of our services, visit the library’s website at www.lexcolibrary.com.
