Pelion, SC (Paul Kirby) – Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has released the identity of the child who died as a result of a tragic single vehicle accident that happened in the 900 block of Bub Shumpert Road near Pelion. The collision occurred at approximately 8:15 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2020.
According to Coroner Fisher, Stacy Elizabeth Bagwell, 12, of Leesville was pronounced dead at the scene due to her injuries. The SUV she was a passenger in veered off the left side of the roadway and overturned. She was not wearing a seat belt when the incident occurred. The driver and other passenger of the vehicle were transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The accident remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
