Cayce Public Safety and Lexington County firefighters put out small fire at the Courtyard by Marriot

Cayce, SC (Paul Kirby) – Firefighters from the Cayce Department of Public Safety, assisted by several crews from the Lexington County Fire Service, extinguished a fire in one room of the Courtyard by Marriott on Fort Congaree Trail Wednesday morning. The call came in regarding the fire just before 7:00 a.m.

According to a spokesman for the Cayce DPS, firefighters found one room on the fourth floor that was filled with smoke. The sprinkler system in that room had activated and had apparently controlled the fire until the firefighters arrived. They connected a hose to the building’s firefighting system and finished putting the fire out.

Lexington County’s Fire Service had responded with a supervisor and several trucks at the request of Cayce. They assisted as directed by Cayce’s commander with ventilating the building and making sure everything was cleaned up and the fire had not extended into other portions of the hotel.

No one was injured as a result of the fire. There has not been an estimated loss released and the cause of the fire is still being investigating.
