American Legion Auxiliary teaming up with SCPR Branch Library, Lexington Two for “Tools for Schools”

South Congaree, SC 06/21/2022 (Paul Kirby) - The American Legion Auxiliary unit of Congaree Unit 90, the South Congaree-Pine Ridge Branch Library, and Lexington District Two’s Family Service Coordinator, Janice Scarbary, have teamed up together to create a “Tools for Schools” event. This event is to help provide essential school supplies for Congaree and Wood Elementary School students. The date of the main distribution event is scheduled for Saturday, August 6 from 10 a.m. until 12 noon. It will be held at the South Congaree Equestrian Arena located at 395 Oak Street, West Columbia, SC. That morning, the volunteers will be giving students school supplies and providing families with different informative resources for the school year.

In order to have the supplies they need; the organizers are asking members of the community to make donations. There is a Needs List below that will give you an example of what they are looking for. Once you’ve chosen the items you want to buy and donate, you may drop off the supplies at the South Congaree-Pine Ridge Library during their regular business hours. You may also have donations shipped for the event by clicking on this Tools for Schools Supplies link on Amazon’s website. Be sure to include your name and an email address in the gift receipt, if you would like to receive a letter for tax purposes.

Supplies that will be needed across all grade levels at both schools include:

1. Pencils

2. Crayons

3. Glue sticks

4. Wide rule paper

5. Composition notebooks

6. Colored pencils

7. Highlighters

8. Scissors

9. Washable markers

10. Pencil pouch

11. Earbuds or headphones
