Capital City/Lake Murray Country to Host Major Kayak Fishing Championships in 2024

Lexington, SC – Capital City/Lake Murray Country (CCLMC) is honored to announce that Lake

Murray has been chosen as the site for two major kayak fishing championships in 2024. The

USA Kayak Fishing Team Qualifier event will be held on April 25-28, 2024 on Lake Murray,

followed by the Pan American Kayak Fishing Championship on September 26-29, 2024.


The qualifier event will be an invitational for America’s top kayak anglers. They will be

competing for a spot on the 2024 Pan American team on Lake Murray and the 2024 Kayak

Fishing World Championship to be held in Italy. The USA Kayak Fishing Team is the

defending gold medalist in both of the events. Team USA won the 2022 Pan American Kayak

Fishing Championship in Mexico and the 2023 Kayak Fishing World Championship in

Cookeville, TN.


Capital City/Lake Murray Country and USAngling made history together in 2022 when they

hosted a record-breaking 25 nations at the 2022 Black Bass World Championship. “Capital City

Lake Murray Country truly believes in the importance of supporting our national fishing

Teams,” says USAngling President Tony Forte. “Miriam Atria, Vickie Davis, Micah Decker, and

all the CCLMC RTB team have an amazing track record by hosting professional and

international fishing tournaments. Tournament kayak fishing is growing quickly and America’s

kayak anglers will get a special treat on Lake Murray’s famed waters.”


The USA Kayak Fishing team qualifier event will be held April 25-28, 2024. The top kayak

anglers in the country will be invited to fish their way onto the kayak fishing national team. The

Pan American kayak fishing championship will be held September 26-29, 2024 featuring teams

from the Americas.
