Forestry Fire That Is Under Control in Red Bank

Lexington, SC 10/05/2023 - Residents in the Red Bank area of Lexington can expect to see smoke in the area after a five-acre woods fire was brought under control on Thursday, Oct. 5.

The Lexington County Fire Service and The South Carolina Forestry Commission responded to the woods fire near Old Orangeburg Road and Platt Springs Road on Wednesday afternoon (Oct. 4).


The fire was brought under control at that time but crews were called back out to the area Thursday morning after reports of smoldering.


As of 12:30 p.m., the scene has been cleared and the fire has been extinguished, but crews expect smoke in the area for the rest of the day. If you see a fire, please call 9-1-1.
