West Columbia, SC (Paul Kirby) – Lexington County Corner Margaret Fisher has identified the man who was killed Thursday morning when he was hit by a vehicle crossing a busy road. According to Coroner Fisher, the vehicle versus pedestrian accident happened at approximately 5:45 a.m. on Thursday, September 17, 2020.
Coroner Fisher said that Otto X. Asmond III, 26, of West Columbia was pronounced dead at the scene due to his injuries. Asmond was walking across the road when he was struck by a northbound vehicle according to Fisher. The driver of the vehicle stopped and remained at the scene.
The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the collision.
