Lexington County investigating structure fire near Pelion

Pelion, SC 08/29/2022 (Paul Kirby) – Investigators with Lexington County are working to determine how a fire started in an abandoned building in the Pelion area of Lexington County. According to Jessica Imbimbo, spokesperson for the County, the structure burned in the 200 block of Summerland Court off Water Tank Road on Thursday, August 25, 2022, at approximately 11:45 p.m.

Imbimbo said the single-story residential structure was 70 percent involved when the first fire service units arrived. A search of the building was done but no one was inside.


At the height of the fire, there were eight fire units on scene with 16 personnel fighting the fire. It took the crews approximately two and a half hours to bring it under control. Firefighters estimated that the loss to the building totaled $85,000.
