Michelin North America, Inc. is terrific to make these grants possible each year through a donation to the Lexington One Education Foundation in an effort to support Lexington District One teachers and students. As a result, the Foundation offers this grant opportunity to Lexington District One teachers in the fall and spring of each year. Teachers can apply for up to $250 in grant funds to help provide unique educational experiences for their students. The grants enable teachers to purchase items that enhance students’ learning in the classroom and are not supported by the school budget.

Some of the foundation’s fall Michelin Golden Apple Grant projects funded include learning using the following tools:

1)      STEM bins that encourage students learning each morning and throughout the day via exploration;

2)      light boxes to teach science and math concepts to students;

3)      STEM activities for students in a preschool special education classroom that promote independent play skills while working on foundational math and reading skills;

4)      hands-on materials, games and interactive read-aloud books to teach and strengthen math skills;

5)      ball launchers for Dash robots in order to delve into STEM concepts;

6)      materials for middle schoolers to create large scale Rangoli designs to enhance the study of area, scale and proportion;

7)      educational materials to help students understand Newton’s Law;

8)      STEAM sets to assist special education students working to improve fundamental and kinesthetic skills;

9)      materials for raised garden beds to enrich hands-on learning across multiple academic disciplines; and

10)  the purchase of an outdoor curriculum unit for elementary physical education course standards.

Congratulations to each of these educators for their accomplishment in earning one of the Lexington One Educational Foundation’s fall Michelin Golden Apple Teacher Grant Awards! The board and staff of the Educational Foundation deeply appreciate Michelin North America’s continued generosity and commitment to Lexington School District One teachers and students through the company’s long-standing partnership with the Lexington One Educational Foundation!
