Irmo, SC 09/24/2021 (Paul Kirby) – Investigators with the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department are working with Lexington Richland School District Five to investigate comments made by an Irmo High School student in a social media video. That student had already been suspended for some other unspecified behavioral issue at the time that the video came to light.
A spokesman for Sheriff Koon wrote Friday just shortly after 11:00 a.m., “While we continue efforts to review the contents of the video, we’re not aware of any direct threat made against the school by the student. There are no charges pending in this case.” He went on to say that the department would continue to work with the district’s leaders to ensure Irmo High School, its teachers, staff, and students remain safe throughout the day Friday and then again when school resumes after the weekend break.
