West Columbia, S.C. 09/11/2021 – Lexington Medical Heart and Vascular Center welcomes Jenna-Lyn A. Johnson, MD, and Garrett Ruth, MD. They join the board-certified cardiologists, vascular surgeons, cardiothoracic surgeons and highly skilled staff to provide patients with the highest level of care in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of heart and vascular diseases.
Dr. Johnson graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in biology, computer science and informatics from the College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina, and earned her medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. After completing her residency at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, she then completed a fellowship in cardiovascular disease at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
An American Board of Internal Medicine diplomate, Dr. Johnson is a member of the American College of Cardiology, the American College of Physicians, the American Medical Association, the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology and Women in Cardiology. She most recently provided comprehensive patient care as chief fellow at the University of Tennessee. In addition to this role, she served on the university’s STEMI Committee, Catheterization Lab Process Improvement Committee, Emergency Management Committee and Graduate Medical and Dental Education Committee. She also provided clinical practice education to family medicine, anesthesia and internal medicine residents on cardiology and electrocardiography related topics.
Dr. Ruth graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences from Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina, and earned his medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Columbia. After completing his residency at University of Florida Shands Hospital in Gainesville, he then completed fellowships in cardiology and interventional cardiology there.
Board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease, Dr. Ruth is a member of the American College of Cardiology, the American College of Physicians, and the American Medical Association. He specializes in providing comprehensive interventional cardiology care, including treatment for coronary artery disease and acute coronary syndrome.
Drs. Johnson and Ruth are accepting new patients at two convenient locations in the Midlands.
