Lexington, SC – 02/05/2021 (Paul Kirby) – Lexington Police Department personnel are once again raising funds to help Special Olympic athletes. Each year, officers work tirelessly to help gather money that’s used to support these very special athletes as they train and travel to competitions.
Right now, they are working to raise support for upcoming Special Olympics Polar Plunge. As they are doing this, they want to seize the opportunity to thank those who made their last effort, the No Shave campaign, a huge success to end 2020.
Over November and December, officers received both business and individual sponsorships for men to grow a beard or women to have a colored streak dyed in their hair. During this effort, the officers raised almost $2,900. These donations will be used to sponsor the over 30,000 Special Olympics athletes in South Carolina.
