Lexington Two announces winners of district's Spelling Bee

West Columbia, SC 01/12/2023 - After roughly an hour and nearly 170 words, Lexington Two had its district spelling bee had its 2023 winner. Northside Middle School sixth-grader Ivy Smith will represent Lexington Two in the regional competition of the Scripps National Spelling Bee.


In the attached picture, Ivey, pictured on the far left, is shown with second-place finisher Emma Summers. She was competing in her first spelling bee. The third-place finisher, pictured on the far right, was Eric Floyd, who won last year’s school-level competition.

South Carolina’s representatives will compete in March at the Carolina Panthers Regional Spelling Bee, presented by Bank of America, as part of the competition leading to the finals of the Scripps National Spelling Bee in May.
