Lexington, SC 01/14/2022 (Paul Kirby) - Law enforcement officers across the Midlands spent much of Friday searching for a man that escaped from the Lexington County Detention Center. Officers that were involved in the search learned just after 2:00 p.m. the escaped inmate had been taken back into custody and the search was being called off. He was captured in the area of Barr Road and BeLo Road west of Lexington.
According to the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, Charles Bradford Deese, 48, was last seen going over the outer fence of the jail’s compound around 9:45 a.m. He was wearing tan pants and a blue denim jacket at the time of his escape. He was being held on a number of charges including forgery, failure to stop for blue lights, domestic violence and distribution of methamphetamine.
No information regarding how Deese escaped has been made available at this point. The Sheriff’s Department has also not said where he was found when he was taken back into custody. More information will be included in updates when the department is able to release that.
