Cayce, SC 09/26/2021 (Paul Kirby) – According to spokesperson for the City of Cayce, the Cayce Department of Public Safety is investigating the death of a female whose body was found in a home on Northland Drive in the early morning hours of Sunday, September 26th. Multiple officers were on that scene the entire day.
Shortly after 5:00 p.m., Northland was still blocked around the 1600 block and multiple law enforcement vehicles were seen in the street in front of a home and parked in its yard. Officers from various agencies were assisting with the road closures.
At various times Sunday, the Cayce Department of Public Safety has been receiving assistance from several surrounding law enforcement agencies. The city has always had an excellent working relationship with its neighboring departments helping as needed and getting assistance when needed in return. At one point Sunday afternoon, an officer with the Springdale Police Department answered a simple abandoned vehicle call in the heart of Cayce. At that time, a Cayce DPS dispatcher advised the caller that numerous investigators were tied up on another scene in the city. The Springdale officer showed up in a timely manner and dealt with that call for Cayce as their work continued at the other scene. .
Just before 8:00 p.m., the city had their public information officer release a statement that said, “At this time, officers want the community to know that there is no cause for concern of citizen safety.”
At about 9:30 p.m., Coroner Fisher released a statement calling this a homicide. She identified the decedent as Heather Renee Jordan, 30, of West Columbia and said that she was sending her body to MUSC in Charleston Monday for an autopsy. After she receives those results, she wil release the cause and manner of death.
