Pelion, SC 02/12/2024 – A substitute teacher who taught recently at Forts Pond Elementary stands accused of assaulting several students at the school earlier this month. According to one mother, her son phoned her on February 1st and said that the substitute had grabbed him around the throat and pushed another student to the ground. The teacher, Allison Johnson, has arranged to turn herself in on 2 counts of assault and battery in the 3rd degree.
The substitute was employed by Kelly Education, a staffing agency that Lexington School District One uses to provide some part-time employees. The district says that this was Johnson’s first time working for the district.
The child’s mother says that the district and Kelly Education need to do a better job of screening these part-time employees. She wants to know if this and any other teachers have a history of this type of behavior at other schools in District One and other school districts anywhere.
Once Johnson turns herself in, she will be booked into the Lexington County Detention Center. She will then have an opportunity to face a judge at a bond hearing.
