Pelion spring sports are on, public reminded about precautions

Pelion, SC – 02/27/2021 (Paul Kirby) – Pelion High School’s Principal Bryan Hearns and Coach & AD Dan Holland recently sent an email to Pelion High School students, parents, and staff reminding them that Spring Sports are on! Yes, from baseball to soccer, the fields are being filed with young people ready to play and burn off that pandemic energy in a positive way.

Even though the weather's warmer and these sports are outside for spring sporting events, the rules must still be followed. The two administrators are asking everyone to please help them make all athletic venues as safe as possible over the next three months.

Here are some of the safety regulations in place:

· Masks covering the mouth, nose, and chin are required to attend any function on our campus. Even though we will be outside at spring events, masks must be worn at all times.

· Please practice 6-foot social distancing whenever possible, unless sitting with folks who live in your house.

· After events are over, please vacate the stadium/field seating areas and move immediately to the parking areas. The goal is to decrease the congregation activities that have taken place in the past during normal years.

Tickets for events at Pelion High will all be sold at the gates only right now. If some unforeseen problem pops up, they have the capability to sell online tickets. For now, and for the comfort of our stakeholders, ticket sales will be as usual.

In closing, the pair reminded those interested, “Other schools/districts may have different procedures for away games, and if/when we are given that information, we will pass it along.”

Coach Holland also added, “Thank you for supporting Pelion Athletics. We hope to have a great return to spring sports in '21. Remember, let the players play, the coaches coach, the officials officiate, and always GO PANTHERS!
