Serious collision near Springdale sends multiple patients to the hospital Friday

Springdale, SC – 05/07/2021 (Paul Kirby) – Lexington County EMS and the county’s fire service responded to a report of a serious collision that injured multiple people Friday. The collision was dispatched at the intersection Wattling and Wilton Roads a few minutes before noon on May 7, 2021.
Law enforcement officers arrived first and reported that a vehicle was under a truck that belonged to a utility company. They confirmed that two people were trapped in the vehicle before firefighters and EMTs arrived.
When firefighters pulled up, they began working to free the pinned patients using their hydraulic extrication equipment. Additional personnel including supervisors from EMS and the fire service also arrived at the scene of the collision to assist. Working together, the teams were able to care for the injured until the firefighters freed the trapped people from the wreckage. Several ambulances went enroute from the site of the wreck to local medical facilities with multiple patients that had varying degrees of injuries.
At this point, law enforcement agencies have not said who was at fault in the incident.
