Swansea police officers arrest Fairfax man after 2 county police pursuit

Swansea, SC 01/10/2024 (Paul Kirby) – Last weekend, officers from the Swansea Police Department were working on traffic patrols along Hwy 321 south in the town. Shortly after 9:00 a.m., an officer stopped a vehicle based on an equipment violation. During the encounter, the driver was asked step out due to the odor of marijuana coming from the car. The driver refused and instead initiated a pursuit south on Hwy 321 into Orangeburg County.

The pursuit continued deep into Orangeburg County. The driver finally was stopped just outside the Town of Norway, SC. A search of the vehicle discovered narcotics and a large sum of money.

Rolando Valentino Green, 42, was charged with trafficking cocaine, failure to stop for blue lights, resisting arrest, and simple possession of marijuana. He was returned to Lexington County and booked into the Detention Center.
