The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department needs help identifying suspect in fuel theft

Lexington, SC 06/20/2022 (Paul Kirby) – The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department is asking the public for help in identifying a person that may have been involved in a theft case. They have a clear picture of the person’s face standing behind what appears to be a U-Haul truck full of carboys that are being filled with fuel.

Stealing fuel is becoming a common crime now that gas and diesel fuel prices have skyrocketed over the past year. Thieves are building special rigs that allow them to steal large quantities at a time. This not only hurts the gas stations owners, it’s also scary to know that these types of rigs are travelling our roads and have no safety systems in the event they are involved in a crash.

If you have seen this person or know who she is, please contact Sgt. Finch at 803-785-8230.
