Fairview, SC (Paul Kirby) A double-wide mobile home was destroyed by fire near the Fairview community Friday evening. The fire, which was reported about 7:20 p.m., was located in the 2200 block of Fairview Road close to where it intersects with Convent Church Road. When the first fire trucks pulled up, the home was reported to be fully involved in flames.
Fire personnel and equipment came from across the western and southern portions of the county to help douse the flames. The battalion chief out of Lexington was eventually in command of the many trucks and people that were on the scene assisting in the fight. The crews used what’s known as an exterior attack, a type of fire attack where the water is poured on from the outside, because the home was too far gone when the teams arrived to safely enter the burning home. Tanker trucks had to shuttle the water in from a supply point because fire hydrants weren’t close to the home.
Eventually, the home was put out, but it was completely destroyed. The county hasn’t said exactly what caused the fire or if anyone was injured in the blaze.
