According to Green, at approximately 7:30 am on June 5, 2025, a Toyota Scion exited Interstate 20 Westbound by way of Exit 55, the ramp that leads into the Town of Lexington. The vehicle crossed multiple lanes of traffic after leaving the exit ramp. An Acura, travelling outbound on South Lake Drive, struck the Toyota causing a collision. The passenger of the Toyota was transported to Lexington Medical Center where she was pronounced dead. Her identity will be released by the Lexington County Coroner’s Office when Coroner Fisher deems it appropriate.

The Lexington Police Department, the South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP), the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, the Lexington County Coroner’s Office, Lexington County’s Fire Services, and Lexington County EMS all had units on the scene and assisted with the collision and the subsequent investigation.
