Three year old dies days from wound in accidental shooting

Gaston, SC – The three-year-old who was injured when she accidentally shot herself last week has died. The shooting happened on Glenn Road near where it intersects with Fish Hatchery Road between Pine Ridge and Gaston. The day of the accident, the child was quickly transported to Palmetto Richland’s trauma center by EMS crews that were assisted by firefighters, but she eventually succumbed to her wound.

According to Captain Adam Myrick of the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, that department is still investigating how the child came to have the loaded gun. Major crime investigators were dispatched to the scene shortly after the call for assistance was received from the home, but no further information regarding this incident is ready for release.
