Update: Arrest made in overnight shooting

Lexington, SC - Our investigation into the shooting in the 1700 block of Dreher Island Road is ongoing. We’re still interviewing dozens of witnesses and we continue to look into what role – if any – a few persons of interest had in the incident. But we are not actively searching for other suspects after the arrest of Joseph Mills.

We can confirm the victims in the shooting, Charles Allen Judge Jr. and Jonathan Michael Prins, were acting as good Samaritans when they were shot.

Based on the information gathered by detectives, the suspect was involved in a physical altercation with a female shortly before the shots were fired. Mr. Judge and Mr. Prins were attempting to intervene and resolve the situation peacefully.

We know many witnesses left the area right after the shooting and investigators still want to talk with them. We encourage them to call CrimeStoppers at 888-CRIME-SC (888-274-6372). CrimeStoppers will protect your identity and a reward of up to $1,000 is available for information that leads to an arrest.
