Two dead and one injured following fiery Saturday morning crash on I-20
Lexington, SC - An early morning head-on collision Saturday on I-20 near the Sunset Blvd. exit killed two people and left one in the hospital.
Emergency officials say that at about 3:30 a.m. on Saturday morning, a 2014 Kia was driving the wrong direction in the eastbound lanes of I-20 when it struck a 2015 Nissan head-on before hitting another car. Both the driver of the Nissan and the Kia were killed in the crash.
Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the driver of the Kia as Franchescha Hope Rogers-Martinez, age 27, of Lexington. The coroner identified driver of the Nissan as Jarrad Denard Blade, age 32, of Decatur, Georgia. They were both scheduled for autopsies on Sunday.
There was a 25-year-old passenger in the Nissan that was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the third car had minor injuries.
The interstate was shut down for about six and a half hours as the wreck was cleaned up and troopers continued their investigation into the cause of the accident.
