Gaston woman struck and killed while walking in the road

Gaston, SC - Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the woman who died after being hit by a car near the town of Gaston. This happened just before 11 p.m. on Saturday night.

The Coroner said that 38-year-old Amy Lands Rast of Swansea was hit by an SUV while she was walking in the middle of Blackville Road around 10:30 p.m.

Rast died at the scene of the accident. An autopsy determined that she had died of blunt force trauma.

South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the accident.
