Toddler found walking in the road near Gaston

Gaston, SC -The Lexington County Sheriff Department responded to a request for service on Woodtrail Drive near Gaston at about 5:20 p.m. Saturday evening. The caller indicated that they had found a small boy who had wandered away from his home.

According to Captain Adam Myrick with the Lexington County Sheriff's Department, deputies checked with neighbors in the area to try and locate the child's parents. After that search failed, the child was placed into emergency protective custody with DSS.

Deputies finally located the parents Sunday morning. The child remained in protective custody as of mid-day Sunday. The investigation into incident is open and ongoing.
