Cayce, SC – An early morning wreck claimed the life of one person on Airport Boulevard near I-26 in Cayce. The accident happened around 7:00 a.m. Monday just as the morning commute was beginning to heat up.

The vehicle involved ended up in the parking lot of the Circle K store between the Waffle House and the Shoney’s just east of the Columbia Airport. This area is just inside the city of Cayce and is surrounded by the town of Springdale on several sides.

Cayce Public Safety Director Byron Snelgrove said that the vehicle rolled over in the crash. He confirmed that one person died on that scene. The driver’s door was draped with a white sheet to protect the scene from onlookers.

The Cayce Department of Public Safety was working the wreck with the assistance of the Lexington County Coroner’s office. They haven’t said yet what caused the crash. An autopsy will be performed to identify the exact cause of death of the driver.
