Regional Recycle Day – Event Scheduled October 15 for Lexington County and Richland County Residents

Lexington, SC - Lexington and Richland County residents will have the opportunity to recycle electronics, household hazardous waste, tires, scrap metal and shred paper documents at the Regional Recycle Day event scheduled for October 15, 2016 at Irmo High School from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. There will also be a statewide collection of household and farmer pesticides.

This event is being hosted by the County of Lexington Solid Waste Management Department and Public Works

Department, Stormwater Division, and County of Richland Solid Waste and Recycling Department, in partnership with Lexington Countywide Stormwater Consortium, Keep the Midlands Beautiful, and the South Carolina Department of Agriculture.

NO commercial or business drop-offs will be accepted.

When: Saturday, October 15, 2016, from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Where: 6671 St. Andrews Rd, Columbia (Irmo High School north (St. Andrews/Westcott Rd) parking lot)

What: The following will be accepted from residents for recycling:

ELECTRONICS* LIMIT 8 ITEMS Computers Monitors Printers TVs Microwaves Cell Phones VCR and DVD Players Fax Machines Stereo Equipment Household Electronics

HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE Paint – LIMIT 8 GALLONS (Oil and Latex) Cleaners & Degreasers Glues & Adhesives PCB Ballasts Fire Extinguishers Fluorescent Tubes Items with Mercury Pool & Spa Chemicals Solvents & Thinners Household Batteries NO Explosives NO Asbestos NO Medical items PESTICIDES Statewide Household and Farmer Pesticides

TIRES Small Cars or Trucks NO Commercial

SCRAP METAL Appliances – refrigeration units accepted, and More


*Electronic Waste must be recycled and not placed in the garbage in accordance with the SC Code of Law, 48-60-05 et seq. Residents should keep electronics intact for the purpose of recycling.
