Lexington’s first Craft Beerfest a roaring success

Lexington, SC – The Greater Lexington Chamber of Commerce held its first annual Craft Beerfest on Saturday night at the new Icehouse amphitheater. By all accounts it was a roaring success!

More than a thousand turned out to enjoy the craft beers, food, and music at the venue that seats 900. It features a new, modern, well-appointed stage and adjoining facilities.

The weather was perfect, temperatures were in the low 70’s and the skies were clear, as the crowds mingled to talk, enjoy the fine beers from across the southeast, taste the food offerings, and sing along with the band.

There were over 56 types and varieties of beer available and 6 food vendors with various offerings for people to enjoy. Each patron was given a souvenir bag with a tasting glass with the Icehouse logo so that they could move from vendor to vendor tasting their crafts.

Music was provided by 20 Ride, a Zac Brown tribute band. They play American Country/Folk music at its finest. According to their website, Zac Brown's tour manager Paul Chanon once said after seeing them, "I had to do a double take the first time I saw him. I thought it was really Zac.” Zak Brown is known for such hits as Chicken Fried, Toes, Highway 20 Ride, and Goodbye in Her Eyes.

Conner Watkins of the Chamber said that they presold more than 600 tickets and had invited several hundred more guests. They were still counting gate sales Monday morning before knowing the exact number who attended.

The Chamber was assisted by the town of Lexington, Lexington’s Police Department, Lexington County’s EMS and fire, the sheriff’s department, and a number of other partners in putting on this event.

The next scheduled event at the Icehouse will be Downtown Jams. This is a family-friendly event with the entire family in mind.

Music for that event will feature The Root Doctors. There will be face painting and lots of other activities for children to enjoy. It’s scheduled for Thursday, October 27, from 6pm-9pm.
