Wilson Participates in Restaurant Roundtable
Lexington, SC - On Monday, October 24, Congressman Joe Wilson (SC-02) participated in a Restaurant Roundtable with local business owners and members of the South Carolina Restaurant and Lodging Association:
“Our restaurant community is made up of small businesses that work diligently to create jobs in the Second Congressional District. While these dedicated professionals strive to serve the community around them, the Joint Employer Rule and the Overtime Regulation stifles productivity, personal opportunity for American franchise owners, and destroys jobs. I am committed to working towards repealing these harmful regulations in order to continue to foster a climate of job creation,” Wilson said.
Bobby Williams, president of Lizard’s Thicket Restaurants hosted the roundtable:
“We thank Representative Wilson for listening to the voices of our industry. South Carolina’s 8,000 restaurants provide opportunity to over 218,000 individuals across our great state. We are thankful that members of Congress like Rep. Wilson are willing to listen to some of the challenges facing our industry and the ways in which restaurants continue to be cornerstones of our community,” Williams said.
The roundtable included remarks by Congressman Wilson, a discussion of issues facing the restaurant community, and a tour of the host restaurant.
