Cayce Department of Public Safety searching for armed robber after convenience store stickup

Cayce, SC – The Cayce Department of Public Safety is once again searching for an armed robber after the convenience store at the intersection of State and Lyle Streets was robbed Halloween night.

According to Chief Byron Snelgrove, the suspect is described as a black male who is approximately 5'11" to 6 feet tall. He was wearing a bandana with skeletons or skulls on it and a gray hoodie with dark pants. He also has a light beard. The suspect was armed with a long barrel revolver when he robbed the store.

Officer from Cayce DPS, assisted by Springdale PD, Lexington County deputies, and several other departments, quickly set up a perimeter in the area where the man was believed to have fled. This included areas around Axtell Drive, State Street, Knox Abbott Drive, and parts of the avenues.

K-9’s and their handlers were dispatched from the county and quickly began to track the suspect. Investigators were working with the store’s management to review security tapes and process the crime scene.

This is the second robbery of a store in Cayce in the past three days. Another store on Frink Street was robbed by two men with a gun on Saturday afternoon. That case is still open and the suspects are being sought.

Chief Snelgrove said Tuesday morning that the suspect in this robbery hasn’t been taken into custody yet. His department is working leads to identify and locate the suspect.
