County of Lexington to Host 14th Annual Veteran’s Parade

Lexington, SC - The County of Lexington will host its 14th annual Veteran’s Parade on Sunday, Nov. 6, 2016, to commemorate the service and sacrifice of our nation’s veterans, as well as the 75th Anniversary of Pearl Harbor and the United Service Organizations.

On November 11, the nation will celebrate Veterans Day to honor the men and women who served in the armed forces. This parade is to show Lexington County’s dedication to supporting our local veterans and honoring those around the nation.

The parade will begin at 3 p.m. with a fly over performed by Bell Aviation. The parade will then proceed from Butler and Haygood streets, down Main Street, ending at the Lexington County Administration Building located on South Lake Drive.

Following the parade, (Ret.) Lt. Col. Roger Rucker will speak at a memorial service, which will be held at the Lexington Veterans Monument.

Bands from Fort Jackson, White Knoll High School, Lexington High School, Pelion High School, Gilbert High School, River Bluff High School and the New Lexington Community Band will be participating in the parade.

The event is free to the public, and County officials encourage everyone to come out and show their appreciation for our veterans!

The parade’s rain date is set for Sunday, November 13, should the weather not cooperate.

For those wanting to participate in the parade, they are invited to contact Sharon Willis at, or call at (803) 785-1454.
