Brookland-Cayce Cheer Team Tops in Competition

Cayce, SC - The Brookland-Cayce Cheer Team has had a run of superlative finishes.

The team has three first-place and two second-place finishes in five competitions this season.

The BC Cheer Team finished second, Nov. 5, in the Debbie Rogers Cheer Classic at the Colonial Center.

The Debbie Rogers Cheer Classic is sponsored by the South Carolina Cheer Coaches Association and it's the state’s largest competition. BC’s finish Saturday is the best finish at the Debbie Rogers Classic in the history of BC Cheerleading. The team is coached by Beth Branham and Alicia Dickerson.

BC Cheer posted a team record of 239, at the classic Saturday, missing the first place spot to Mid Carolina by only 4 points. BC bested Mid Carolina earlier this season at the 2016 Forest Acres Cheer Cup.

The Brookland-Cayce Cheer Team won the Forest Acres Cheer Classic at AC Flora High School, Nov. 2. and finished second in the in the Oct. 29 Lake Murray Invitational.

The Cheer Team scored a first-place finish in 3A competition, Oct. 18, at the Battle at the Bluff competition held at River Bluff High School.

The team also took first place at the 3A Silver Fox Cheerleading Invitational, Oct 15. It was held at Dutch Fork High School.

The BC Cheer team will also be at a state qualifiers competition on Tuesday (Nov. 8) at AC Flora High School, beginning at 1:30 p.m.

Twenty-five 3A cheer teams will compete to qualify for State competition. That will be held Nov. 19, at the Colonial Center.
