Trash truck fire causes traffic delay on Fish Hatchery Road Yesterday

Gaston, SC – A trash truck that caught fire and burned caused a portion of Fish Hatchery Road to be closed for a short time Wednesday afternoon. Firefighters from several county fire stations fought the fire in the truck that had flames coming from it when they arrived on scene.
The fire was close to the intersection of Fish Hatchery and Casa Dell Roads in a mostly rural area between Gaston, Sharpe’s Hill, and Pelion. Firefighters requested tanker trucks that carry additional water respond to assist with the fire suppression efforts.
Traffic was stopped for a short time on Fish Hatchery Road and law enforcement officers detoured traffic around the fire scene. The company that owned the truck eventually had it towed from the scene after the fire was extinguished.
