Former Columbia Police Department officer arrested in Lexington County on sex crime charge
Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) – Lexington County Sheriff’s Department investigators have arrested a former city of Columbia police officer on a sex crimes charge. Jamie Lee Rogers Sr., 35, has been charged with first-degree sexual assault of a minor victim under 11 years of age.
According to investigators, sometime between May of 2013 and August 2013, Rogers made a young girl engage in a sex act with him at an undisclosed location in Lexington County. Because of where this alleged crime took place, the arrest was made by personnel from the Lexington County Sheriff's Department.
Rogers was an active duty officer with CPD when he was arrested. He had been with the department since March of 2012 and was assigned to the area north of the city. He has since been terminated according to Chief Holbrook of the Columbia Police Department.
