Round Hill, SC – Lexington County firefighters quickly controlled a second single family house fire Monday afternoon. This fire was in the 300 block of Longwood Drive between Red Bank and Round Hill. The first house fire occurred Monday morning closer to Cayce just off Charleston Highway.

Firefighters from Round Hill, Boiling Springs, Red Bank, South Congaree, Gilbert, Lexington, and other county fire stations were dispatched to the fire in a well-established neighborhood in the center of the county. First arriving crews found heavy smoke and fire leaping from the attached garage of the brick home.

The fire crews pulled hose lines and made a quick attack knocking the fire down within minutes of their arrival. Several water tankers were used to shuttle water into the fire as the fire hydrants were some distance away.

County EMS crews stood by on the scene to assist the firefighters and to ensure their safety. The also helped to rehab fire personnel that were coming off the fire attack.

According to Harrison Cayhill, spokesman for Lexington County, the fire is believed to have started in the area of the garage and spread to the attached home. Cayhill said that no one was injured because of the fire.
