West Columbia Fire Department Lunch & Learn to Allow Participants to Command Simulated Fires
West Columbia, SC - The City of West Columbia Fire Department (610 N. 12th Street, West Columbia) will host a Lunch and Learn through the Greater Cayce-West Columbia Chamber of Commerce for the local business community, elected officials, and members of the media. This two-hour program includes hands-on firefighting and rescue operations under the controlled supervision of West Columbia Fire Department staff. Participants will have an opportunity to command a simulated structure fire, use the ‘Jaws of Life’, ascend an aerial ladder, and extinguish a realistic fire, using the WCFD’s new digital fire simulator.
Attendees will also learn the strategies used to keep the community safe while having lunch provided by SERVPRO. The Lunch and Learn will be Tuesday, December 6, 2016, with active participant registration beginning at 10:30 AM and hands-on scenarios starting at 11:00 AM.
Media outlets are invited to register reporters as a participants in the Lunch and Learn. However, space is limited and pre-registration is required as soon as possible by going to the CWC Chamber of Commerce site, http://www.cwcchamber.com/, and clicking on the Lunch and Learn tab. Media and photographers who would like to attend but will not participate in scenarios are asked to contact the West Columbia Fire Department for media credentials prior to December 6, 2016.
