Springdale police officers assist US Homeland Security with arrests in document fraud case

Springdale, SC (Paul Kirby) – Officers from the Springdale Police Department assisted agents from Federal Homeland Security with several arrests in that town Thursday morning. The arrests took place near the intersection of Wattling and Old Barnwell Roads mid-morning.

According to a spokesman for the federal agency, Miguel Marquez-Herra and Ivonne Baez-Fonesca were arrested on charges stemming from the sale of falsified documents at a local flea market. These documents the pair were selling included fake social security cards and other identification cards like SC driver’s licenses.

The US Attorney’s office in Columbia has accepted the case for prosecution.
