Swansea woman charged with embezzlement
Swansea, SC - Agents of the S.C. Law Enforcement Division Thursday arrested and charged a Swansea women in connection with funds missing from the town during her tenure as a town employee.
Lorraine Culler, 56, was charged with Embezzlement of public funds, value 100,000 or more, a felony witch carries a penalty upon conviction of a fine in proportion to the amount of funds embezzled and up to 10 years in prison.
SLED investigated the case at the request of the Town of Swansea.
Culler was booked on the charge at the Lexington County Detention Center.
The case will be prosecuted by the 11th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
